Differentiation: A Key to Design-Build Construction Success

With the significant decline in commercial construction since 2008, large commercial contractors that typically pursue projects over $25 million are now pursuing $1 million projects.  In order for mid-sized contractors to compete, they must have excellent experience on design-build contracts and be able to show the owner that they can provide an excellent product quicker, and for less money than the large contractors.  Smaller firms must differentiate their experience, their approach to the design-build process, and their teaming members.  One significant key that can be highlighted is for the design-build contractor to sell the scopes of work they self perform. Modular Buildings Aid FEMA in Disaster Relief Efforts

From the flooding of the Mississippi River to the tornadoes that have spawned throughout the country, the rash of weather-related natural disasters has placed enormous stress on local communities and stretched the resources of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The destruction of homes, schools, medical facilities, commercial structures and government buildings have resulted in an unprecedented need for temporary facilities while the plans for rebuilding the devastated areas take shape. Fort Bliss Information Flows From New Ramtech Modular Building

The Directorate of Information Management (DOIM) at Fort Bliss, TX recently began their final preparations prior to occupancy on the third in a series of permanent modular buildings developed and built by design-build construction firm Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, Texas.  Located on the main cantonment of the sprawling Fort Bliss military base in El Paso, the new 15,000 square foot building addition replaces the original base Data Center and Server Rooms built in the 1960’s.  Read more…

Fort Bliss Combat Aviation Brigade Occupies First of Three Modular Buildings from Ramtech

The U.S. Army has recently occupied the first of a series of permanent modular buildings developed and built by design-build construction firm Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, Texas. Located in the Biggs Army Airfield section of the sprawling Fort Bliss military base, the two-story 99,050 square foot Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) building is one of three prefabricated buildings that Ramtech will provide under the company’s Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Hensel Phelps Uses Ramtech’s Accelerated Building System to Complete C.O.F. Facilities at Fort Bliss

Construction on the third and final phase of the Army’s new Company Operation Facilities at Ft. Bliss, Texas was completed in December 2010.  Ramtech was the strategic subcontractor to Hensel Phelps responsible for structural design, manufacturing, and installation of eighteen 18,000 sf two-story buildings, and six 8,000 sf one-story buildings.   Ramtech’s scope of work totaled 372,000 sf  with their subcontracts for the three task orders totaling $32 million.
