Ramtech will once again be exhibiting our modular construction capabilities at the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals’ Annual Conference & Trade Show coming up on April 9-10 at the Omni Hotel located next to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas. With this year’s theme of “Taking Rural Healthcare in a New Direction,” the conference will focus on the evolving landscape of rural health care and the difficulty in navigating it. The TORCH Conference will explore many of these new directions in order to help guide rural hospital executives, trustees and other stakeholders toward financial and operational success by focusing on knowledge, data, vigilance, and collaboration. TORCH expects a large turnout to discuss all the potential changes in policy or laws related to reimbursement, workforce, technology and quality.  Ramtech medical facility development specialist Bill Barron will be representing us in Booth 36 with the goal of promoting our innovative and flexible modular medical clinics and other modular building products for community health clinics, outpatient facilities, medical office buildings, pharmacies/labs, diagnostic imaging, and dialysis centers. The TORCH conference is dedicated exclusively to rural and community hospital administration, finance, education, and advocacy professionals, with the primary goal of providing a forum to address the paths required for financial and operational success.

Ramtech Wins MBI Awards of Distinction for West ISD Modular Buildings

Posted on: April 8th, 2014 by (No Comments)

Ramtech received a first place award in the Relocatable Modular Education Over 10,000 Square Feet category at the Modular Building Institute’s World of Modular annual convention and tradeshow held at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort March 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas. The award was for the instructional and support facilities we built for the West (TX) ISD.  The modular school project serves as the District’s middle and high school campus which are temporarily replacing the permanent buildings that were destroyed by the massive fertilizer plant explosion on April 17 of last year. Ramtech took just 90 days to complete the new campus which is located on the existing West Middle School site.  The interim campus is part of the first phase of The Restore West ISD building program which comprises 28 separate structures including 17 new relocatable modular buildings that were designed, manufactured, and installed by Ramtech.  The 69,776 square foot modular construction project includes three 10-classroom buildings, four computer and science labs, two locker room buildings, an administrative office, cafeteria, band hall, and a life skills building. Setting the Record Straight on Design-Build Modular Construction for Texas Schools

Posted on: March 27th, 2014 by (No Comments)

Why do school districts in Texas as well as many architectural firms believe that design-build is not a superior method of contracting for public school construction?  The arguments often center on the schools not knowing the final cost of the project until it is completed; that many school projects come in over budget; and that the design-build team will lower the quality of the construction in order to meet the district’s budget. While this could be an issue with some common applications of design-build that other companies take, Ramtech has developed a vertically integrated permanent modular construction approach to design-build that eliminates these concerns while providing a less expensive school facility which can be completed faster than using the design-bid-build or construction manager delivery methods. Redwater ISD Approves Ramtech Proposal for New Permanent Modular Building

Posted on: March 10th, 2014 by (No Comments)

During their scheduled board meeting on February 24, 2014 the Redwater Independent School District’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved Ramtech’s lump sum proposal for the construction of a new 18,348 square foot middle school. The new modular school building will employ Ramtech’s Accelerated Building System, a permanent modular construction process which provides for a modular building that utilizes a poured-in-place five inch concrete slab as the building’s structural floor. The approval of the lump sum proposal now paves the way for the construction portion of the design-build project to begin.

Ramtech’s two-step approach to design-build construction provides for a fixed fee design that enables us to determine the actual construction costs. These costs are then presented to the school district in the form of a lump sum proposal. If the lump sum proposal is accepted, construction can begin. If they are rejected, then the district is only out the amount of the fixed design fee. This approach provides Texas ISD’s with a low-risk way to take advantage of one of the many benefits that design-build construction offers.

Redwater ISD’s $2.7 million project will provide them with a new state of the art facility that includes 13 standard classrooms, three large instructional spaces with dedicated storage areas, a teachers work/break room, two student restroom groupings, faculty toilets, and a central corridor with 300 lockers. The building also features a full masonry exterior, rigid panel steel roofing, and extensive glazing. Construction is slated to begin the week of March 10, with a scheduled completion in September of this year.

Ramtech Enters Two Modular Building Projects For 2014 MBI Awards of Distinction Program

Posted on: February 25th, 2014 by (No Comments)

Ramtech is once again set to submit multiple modular building entries into this year’s Awards of Distinction program at the annual Modular Building Institute World of Modular convention and trade show being held at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort March 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas.  Ramtech will look to add to our 18 previous Awards of Distinction winners by entering two modular construction projects in the Relocatable Modular Category where we have had a lot of previous success. Last year we won first place in the Education Over 10,000 sq. ft. category with the modular school campus we built for charter school operator KIPP Delta Public Schools in Blytheville, Arkansas. This year, we will enter in the same category the instructional and support facilities we built for the West (TX) ISD.  The project serves as the District’s middle and high school campus which are temporarily replacing the permanent buildings that were destroyed by the massive fertilizer plant explosion on April 17 of last year. Located on the existing West Middle School site, the interim campus is part of the first phase of The Restore West ISD building program which comprises 28 separate structures including 17 new relocatable modular buildings that were designed, manufactured, and installed by Ramtech.  The 69,776 square foot modular construction project includes three 10-classroom buildings, four computer and science labs, two locker room buildings, an administrative office, cafeteria, band hall, and a life skills building. Exactly What Is Prefabricated Construction?

Posted on: February 11th, 2014 by (No Comments)

As a modular manufacturing and construction company, Ramtech’s customers often refer to our buildings as being prefabricated.   When a customer was referring to one of our permanent modular buildings, that made sense.  However, when they were referring to relocatable modular buildings, that was surprising.  As I did some research by visiting various websites and blogs, the results were even more interesting.  Many people feel that all residential and commercial modular buildings are outside the definition of prefabricated.   They associated prefabricated with panelized wall sections, piping racks, or switchgear components that were manufactured inside a plant, delivered to the site, and became component parts of the building.  Others felt that prefabricated merely referred to steel building systems.  In either case, the impression was that virtually all the work is completed onsite.  After giving this a lot of thought, and researching the websites of many different construction companies, I’ve come to the conclusion that there are many different meanings to what constitutes “prefabricated construction.” (more…)

Annunciation Orthodox School Modular Building Video

Posted on: December 4th, 2013 by (No Comments)

Ramtech has released a new promotional video that highlights a five-classroom relocatable modular building recently designed, manufactured, and constructed for Annunciation Orthodox School in Houston, TX.  The new 6,400 square foot facility allowed Annunciation Orthodox to relocate their existing pre-K program from an older facility to the new modular school building as part of the private school’s long-range master plan. The modular construction project required the demolition of an existing building adjacent to the main campus structure which had been used as a storage facility for several years.

Ramtech Releases Hico (TX) ISD Modular School Building Video

Ramtech has released an additional video testimonial that highlights the design, manufacture, and construction of an eight-classroom modular building recently built for the Hico Independent School District in Hico, TX.  The new 8,064 square foot facility was part of a modular construction project that included the purchase of the modular school building as well as leasing two of Ramtech’s industry-leading portable classrooms through the Texas BuyBoard cooperative purchasing network. As part of a district wide facility consolidation program the multiple classroom building was installed on an adjacent parking lot at the current junior high school location in order to accommodate pre-kindergarten and elementary school students.
